(Notes from the Editor: August 1999)

This home page has a target date to publish a monthly issue on the 15th whilst this is not easy as we experience some delay. However, our thinking is, even with a delay, to maintain a monthly rhythm is important so as to bring readers with fresh ideas and information relative to "organic industry" on a regular basis. One of such new topics comes to our attention in recent days is "Bioengineering and Food Safety". It is stirring a variety of arguments and debates around the world including Japan, Europe and the U.S. The Gerber's recent decision in July 1999 on its non-usage of bioengineered ingredients is closely related to the Petaluma's business particularly to its production of Rosie. Gerber is the No. 1 customer to Petaluma. The Rosie meat is totally free from the bioengineering issues in addition to its truly qualified organic status. We highlighted this topic in the Special Report section.

For the coming month of September, we hope that we can have an "Online Shopping" launched that has long been our agenda. It is also a homework with our partner in Japan, Kakiuchi. As our new setup in Tokyo is now complete, i.e. MLT Japan Inc. was formed, we feel that we will gear up our engine so as to make Online Shop vehicle ready for service sometime soon. MLT Japan together with Kakiuchi is now carefully selecting suitable items to be placed in our Online Shop. Anytime when we are ready,  we will announce such "breaking" news over this web site. For your information, the planned Internet shopping service is available for Japan delivery only at this time.

MLT continues its efforts to keep updates on relative business information about the industry and hopes to bring readers with more valuable and interesting information. We target all our time and effort to "organic" foods so as to keep our eyes on "healthiness, freshness, cleanness" of our quality life today. And we always appreciate your support and welcome your comments and suggestions, thank you.
